VICTIMS OF CIRCUMSTANCES.
Atmospheric temperatures of our planet earth has been on the rise as we went about building factories coughing out plumes of black smoke round the clock while number of vehicles on the road has been multiplying at a rate which is mind boggling. The carbon de-oxide would have been converted by our green mass of trees in to oxygen had we been steadily planting more and more trees, instead we were madly cutting down the trees which, had drastically contributed to global warming ,leave alone the other side effects of erosion etc, The rise in the temperatures globally will certainly have a high impact as the melting of glaciers, will in the beginning flood rivers and sea level increase will wipe out most of the low lying landscapes over a period of time.
The erratic behavior of the climate change is definitely going to harm humankind and the survival or the existence of human beings may lie beneath, as we have seen the dinosaurs and so many other species which have vanished from the face of the earth. As responsible citizens we have to realize the dangers of rising temperatures and start reversing the situation as fast as we can, so that the effects may be reduced gradually thereby limiting the disaster to some extent.
The Europeans has mostly come to terms with the imminent danger, Americans has been indifferent in addressing this issue, though it was heartening to note that the efforts of Al-Gore former American presidential candidate who lost to the junior Bush and has embarked on a mission in support of the reduction of green gas omission drastically to revert the effects of global warming.
The urgency of the period has to be understood and drastic measures have to be undertaken, only then can we actually hold on and see to our dear earth’s well being. Also in the process we may actually succeed and see that we leave behind a livable atmosphere for our future generations. United Nations will have to make some hard decisions to press for reduction of green gas emissions especially the so called developed countries led by USA which alone is contributing to more than fifty percent of the emission level of green gas.
The most important thing to remember is that the further we go away from mother nature the more dangerous it is going to be in the future. In U K a recent news item revealed that the wind power alone will be sufficient for their energy needs in the near future, which is reusable and does not involve any pollution. Like wise all developed and developing countries have to be in total understanding and turn to reusable energy sources such as wind, sun and hydro electric projects. Atomic energy is always a danger to depend on as time and again it was proved to have disastrous impact of radiation leakage which can wipe off almost all living beings in vast areas. We are not yet sure how fool proof the nuclear technology is, which only experts may be able to answer.
The importance of the present situation can not be ignored for long for it may end the fate of the human race forever. Or at least may hasten the journey towards doomsday. Apart from a major portion of humanity other living creatures also may perish for a mistake which was not of their making. We only can blame ourselves. The natures fury at times have shown how little and helpless we are when it comes to natural calamities like storms, earthquakes, wild fires. Having experienced all such calamities still we don't take notice of the power of the nature or the dangers of tinkling with the balance of earth's powers and our limited capacity to deal with enormous back fire of our nature. I sincerely hope and pray for all the countries to sit together and find out common grounds to deal with global warming and also pave ways for the future generations also to lead their lives in tandem with the nature.

THE ASSETS OF A COUNTRY
Indian population was for long considered as a handicap and it was seen as a hurdle for development and till some time ago, there were thoughts of putting a cap on how many children one can have as in China. But fortunately better sense prevailed and such thoughts were converted to publicity of the side effects of having large families, mainly the need of providing for many children ,be it good education or high and comfortable standard of living.
Chinese, though succeeded in controlling their growth of population, now may be thinking of the side effects again of having majority of the population either in old age category or in unproductive category in the lesser age group. The short fall suddenly of the productive age category in the future also may backfire on them. But that does not mean they were wrong in controlling the population growth. Other wise they would have been facing more devastating effects of abnormally high population.
We have succeeded to some extent to control the growth of population but I feel, more measures have to be initiated to see that we convert the productivity factor as our population is a huge asset. The manpower is the supreme power, if harnessed well, and given the skill of our enterprising young generation, who are second to none in whatever parameters one may evaluate.
More over, I don’t think any country is wealthier in terms of the volume of gold in possession of the population. Our women possess, to a rough estimate of mine, more gold than all other countries put together or at least some where near to that estimate.
Though we may look as a poor country with hungry masses, the wealth of our country can not be under estimated. We possess huge volume of assets like gold, {mainly ornaments] leave alone other natural resources. I have a gut feeling which tells, the next big source of energy is the solar energy. We have abundant source of the same and even a pessimist may agree that we are in fact a very rich country which is about to explode and assert our position as the leader in almost all aspects. Whether that is going to happen in our lifetime is yet to be seen though, we are almost there.
Our main problem, especially in the northern states, is that the slow emergence of middle class as a stronger and majority among our population, which has happened in southern states and is not happening at the desired pace in the states like UP, MP, Bihar etc.
The middle class values according to me, are the best in the country, as they seldom show off in front of the downtrodden or the poor masses. After all what can one gain by showing off in front of the poorest, for whom, a good meal per day is the main attraction.
I have seen especially in Kerala women not wearing many ornaments even though they may possess much, during functions. The same is the case with well educated girls these days. Apart from few among them, majority is compassionate towards the poor and really wants to contribute towards their society for the development of the poorest in our country.

RIGHTS OF LIBERTY
RIGHTS OF LIBERTY
India has been the main news internationally mainly because of our population of over a billion people our country has almost one fifth of the total human population. But the land area is not in proportion in comparison as our country is not as vast as we would have liked it. China is about six times larger and area population ratio will show that our country is the most thickly populated and people per square kilometer are the highest. As our population increased the land area occupied by people spread thick and fast resulting encroachment of forests. This has been proving disastrous and have left the animals no place to hide leave alone their other problems such as access to drinking water and food. Already we can see the daily news items of elephants and wild animals wandering about and stumbling upon villages.
Well there seem to be no opposition when the animals right of living has been ignored while, there are so much opposition against the land grabbing being done by the Government, animals on the other hand does not find any supporters and have been losing ground steadily throughout the history. The next target is the poorest among the poor, the small farmers with what little land that was left, is now being targeted by the big corporate houses in the name of development and progress with the steady support of the Govt. Machinery.
The idea of cost effectiveness and cheaper productivity can not be justified, if the land acquisition was done forcibly against the farmers’ wish. His right to livelihood is a bigger issue and can not be forcibly thrown out of his farm land unless he agrees to an alternate arrangement or offer. Like wise the special legislation empowering the govt. to acquire any such land in the larger interest of the state or the country, is also debatable and does not guarantee safety to any citizen or his land.
As a democracy, which boasts of civil liberty and rights of all her citizen, the contrast in approach towards the right to lively- hood and the right to own land can not be ignored.
Even if the effected party is only one person still the Govt. is under obligation to provide these fundamental rights, leave alone all other basic needs such as drinking water ,food, electricity, transportation, protection etc. Each and every citizen has a right to live and the government is supposed to be seeing and ensuring that the basic fundamentals are provided without hindrance rather than being hindrance to their lives.
Farmers’ suicides these days are becoming a non event and no one seems to be in a hurry to address this issue, while the takeovers and market swings and the few rich Indians doing well in the international level seems to be the front cover stories of almost all magazines and newspapers. The claims of 9 to 10 percent growth and share markets’ which are booming are all seen as the big success story of our country. But the ground situation or reality shows our poor have in real become poorer while, the rich as always are getting richer. The word inclusiveness has become the latest mantra but nobody has actually included our farmers in their scheme of things.
We need a national movement for the causes of the poor farmers. They have to be subsidized and guided before they perish. The development, progress and industrialization can not be at the cost of our poor farmers. The government has to gear up and lift those farmers above the poverty line as a primary target before embarking on further development and land acquisitions. The urgency of the country shown in fast track development of infrastructure instead, should be on the farming side which is still the primary livelihood of almost 70 percent of our population.

Americab folly and the looming dangers
From my childhood I have been fascinated with the progress made by US, whether it is true or a window dressing act, time will prove .Their economy in real perhaps, is a bubble about to burst. The fact that the industrial revolution happened in U S, and its population according to some at least, is claimed to be the most enterprising and the tenacity has no doubt achieved so much due to their eternal fighting spirit and cruelty and has no peers. Very few countries can boast of having a life style which, as seen from an outsider’s perspective, looks the most dynamic success story. But the fact of the matter is whether they can maintain the same level of progress for longer period .Their frantic efforts to expand its business across the globe going for new markets to satisfy their high flying life styles and its costs may not be prove to be successful, because of the competition and unpredictable happenings which can boomerang. Be it the natures balancing acts or the retribution from their foes, all of them have the scope of negative effect which can tumble any so called strong economy. For the Americans it is already showing the signs of taking a beating in the near future. The sense of urgency shown in atomic energy tie up with India is the proof that all is not well with them. The war expenditure is mounting and very soon they may have to withdraw from Iraq .The weakening of the green buck is the other source of worry for them as Euro is gaining and is seen much stronger and dependable. Now the situation is going to fall apart if China or India backs up. They need at least one of these countries to be their partner or else it is dooms day for them. China has always been seen with suspicion hence, the urgency in taking along India which is a stable democracy and has all the ingredients to make things click for them. So without tacit support from India, things look very grim for their future.
As far as India is concerned the big question is whether it suits us or is it really in line with our scheme of future development, our need for energy is obvious and urgent. But our past records and experiences may show that US never was our ‘best friend’, but as two of the most accomplished democracies we can find common ground, more over we have most number of skilled manpower working in US hence, things as it stands may benefit us in the long run provided Americans too reciprocate evenly.
The fruits of friendship between our two countries are logically and mutually beneficial. More to Americans, as we are in fact bailing them out of the mess they are in. But there are so many other issues more pressing, and have to be addressed before we enter in to an alliance of our businesses.
There are alternative tie-ups with other like minded countries, which also will prove its worth if we decide to give a skip to the 123 agreement. So like our prime minister rightly pointed out it is not the end of the road as far as the deal or alternative arrangements for us are concerned.
Coming back to the progress of America in the last few centuries and the side effects of their life styles is also debatable, the results are only to be seen and evaluated. But the- capitalistic and market oriented economy has its own draw backs and the first sign of vulnerability has started showing of late.
If we go backwards from the early days when Columbus sailed in search of India, where wealth and prosperity awaited him and stumbled upon American continent instead and those deadly red Indians [who were named so by default] who fought against the intruders and as a result was massacred along with the animals, with the help of the fire power of the gun powder .Then came the era of slaves from Africa who were rounded up and was shipped to USA and was made to work in the fields and factories, which again was possible only because they had guns while the African natives like the red Indians had to fight with arrows ,bows and swords.
Then, the revolt of those Americans against the British monarchy, which till then had held those vast territories and the income generated through the hard work of the slaves and the rich natural resources the land had unlike many other landscapes. The lure of richness made people go mad after wealth and land, and resulted again in bloodshed between the friends turned foes. Life and death became so cheap that in seconds an individual can turn to a murderer and the fate of the living was always hanging in thin edge.
The fate of red Indians were doomed in no time and the Americans [who were actually of Europeans origin] then succeeded in throwing out the British as well in no time.
Ever since then they had gone on and on with their highly consumerist and wayward life styles, which actually was animal like and without any remorse or regret they kept on gobbling up the vast resources of the land without any second thought for the generations to follow. The highly materialistic and sinful lifestyles made their children grow to become highly restless and reckless citizens, children as we all know are flexible as well as vulnerable during the adolescent years they need parental guidance and co existence to feel secured. The care and love of their parents normally make them grow to be a responsible human being with love for humanity and learns to respect elders and most of all have compassion towards their fellow countrymen and humanity as a whole.
These traits were absent in American society which has resulted in broken families and the side effects which follows is of hatred towards all and sundry. This can prove to be very dangerous for the society. Most of the cruel members in our society are the recipient of cruelty in their child hood, as can be seen from real life experience of many such criminals. The cultureless society without value for righteous thinking led to the evolving of less and less matured people and without any order or systematic grooming, the future generations became more and more impatient and ruthless. The role of Christianity in maintaining sensible behavior and good grooming of the children was negligent or rather ineffective.
The spiritual outlook is the most important ingredient in any human being to transform and grow to be a balanced and matured human being. We can see the poor slum dwellers in India is actually in most cases ,more at ease and lives more happily than most of those big and mighty rich Americans . There is harmony in living together, though in thatched -huts instead of big houses .What is the use of Palatial Bungalows or luxury apartments and pent houses if you have no one to live in there? Or is left alone and the loneliness may even result in depression and psychological disorders.
The American society had gone too far deeper and had almost reached a point of no return .The society allowed directly or indirectly the sinners to go from bad to worse as far as the moral discipline was concerned.
The result of the last few centuries of madness is there to be seen. I read some where that almost 50 percent of the children in their early teenage do not even know the name of their father. If that is called modern and sophisticated society and is being shown as the best examples to be emulated, I feel, the guys have got it all wrong .It will certainly start boom ranging with a disastourous end in sight as can be seen from the School shootings and the worldwide hatred towards Americanism and their wretched way of life.
The telltale signs are there to be seen and the future looming of the black clouds are shutting us off from the rejuvenating light of the sun god, adding to which is the fear of the un known results of global warming and the disasters awaiting humanity. The sinners will perish along with many or huge number of innocent lives.
The only way-out is to understand the graveness of the situation and drastic change in attitude is the need of the hour. They can look and observe our Indian way of living and the age old scriptures left behind by far more civilized and scientific people who wrote our VEDAS and UPANISHADS apart from other thousands of scriptures which are there for all to look forward and understand the real meaning of life and the art of living.
There are answers to all our problems and queries in those very scientific scriptures which are thousands of years older and have a divine nature to it. {Readers may visit the sites of Indian Institute of Scientific Heritage for more on Indian culture, tradition, and age-old practices]

GODS' OWN COUNTRY AND THE HISTORY BEHIND
Having born in Kerala [he Kerala tourism board later named it as the Gods’ own country, perhaps to attract tourists] I have seen and experienced the culture in almost all districts of kerala, the population is split approximately 20 percent each Christian ,Muslims and the rest 60 percent of majority Hindus, along with Jews, Jains, Buddhists Sikhs etc.
The southernmost Indian state has it all seen it all kind of people, who are intelligent hence, carries the burden of being neglected by big Industrial houses mainly due to the so called lien towards Marxism and Communism, who were mainly responsible for the empowerment of the socially backward field laborers who were working and enhancing the vast wealth, for centuries in the fields , for the land owners to get richer and lead life luxuriously at the cost of the labor of the socially backward communities. This inequality was first addressed by the communist govt. {First time in the history of mankind through election] elected in the late fifties. The land owners overnight became the landless almost but for their houses, off course, but for a lull period, due to the surprise element, they all have come up again in life through education and sheer intelligence which was their strong point. That again doesn’t mean others were less intelligent or have not come up in the ladder. Today’s’ Kerala leads highly in Healthcare, Literacy rate, and has now become the most sought after land destination for tourists from all over the world.
The triggering point must have been the boost which the National Geographic Channel gave, by rating it as the one among the top “MUST SEE DESTINATIONS”. The parameters were Scenic beauty, access by all three Modes, Sea, Air and Road. The panoramic beauty of sea beaches coupled with beautiful mountain resorts and sea faring people who can live in house boats and wander about for weeks in the backwaters or the rivers ,while they are treated with the age old and trusted Ayur Vedic Treatment which, as the name suggests has roots in ‘VEDIC periods considered to be at least thousands of years old and source of which is considered rightly divine though, some say, that almost or more than fifty percent have been lost or is now extinct due to our own ignorance and follies. People mistakenly was more attracted to those highly consumerist life styles of the western world, who were actually floundering their vast land, the process of its possession is still debatable as no person with a sound mind and balanced thoughts can do what the Europeans did to the native red Indians and poor negros of Africa, The use of gun powder was the only edge while massacring the red Indians and the animal wild. No system or fair playing man can forgive easily the curse behind accession of wealth or property by way of brutally destroying mother earth and eating up fast and quick the resources without any feel of guilt or remorse. Leave alone the fate of our mother earth by global warming and rising sea waves and levels added with the melting of our snow covered mountains and glaciers the balances of nature are being ignored by our so called developed nations.
I was told the other day that the emission levels by U S alone contribute to more than fifty percent of the total emissions. They still don’t realize the dangers. May god save all of us?
Coming back to Kerala, though not intentional the people revolted against industrialization and big Industries on the one side the villages are still more or less the same and preferred to go out to other places including foreign countries mainly to gulf, where they were building cities with the oil money, Malaya lees working outside kerala are considered among the best by any yardstick.
Their contributions alone have made the state survive all the tough periods. Now our main revenue may come out of tourisms [Health and vacation including the feel of gods own country] the first Christian church in India came up in Kodungallur [ancient name of the capital of Cheraman perumal was Musharis] of St.Thomas who was a direct disciple of Jesus Christ, hence must be at least 2000 years old nearby which, is the oldest Muslim shrine in India. Not leaving behind the most clean and pandas free temples lead by Guruvayoor{Sri Krishna Temple}Mammiyoor Shiva temple Sri Ayyappaa Temple Devi temples at Kodungallur, Chottanikkara,Meenkulathil Bhagavathi Amman, Kadampuzha Devi temple only to name very few among those thousands of temples.
The Western Ghats and Nilgiris protect Kerala from the heat waves of the north while the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal sees that the state is always cool and humid. Adding to these is the number of rivers with water throughout the year, Sea food etc, One can go on and on I wanted all the people to come and experience our rich culture which can be the leading light for the divided world where people are killing people god knows why, there is harmony in diversity at gods own country
