CRIME AND PUNISHMENT.

DASTARDLY KILLINGS AND MINDSET OF THE TERRORISTS.

Recent mayhem experienced in Mumbai is some thing unprecedented and makes one wonder what makes people turn to be so cruel and the appalling lack of sensitivity of those responsible, for the fellow human beings who are no way connected to what ever the reason for them to go helter skelter and kill at random to who ever happens to be there at the unfortunate moment. The trend seems to be one of total frustration and the result of people who have been made sick in their mind, by so much brain washing at a very vulnerable age mostly during their late teens. I don’t believe one can do such things out of religion or communal hatred, if only the basic teachings of those growing up children were proper. Most cases such criminals may be the product of withered families or children of those suffered parents who may have been indirectly responsible for the growing children to become such deadly terrorists, who has decided to die and wants maximum people also to die in the process. Remember the London killer who silently killed prostitutes to perhaps avenge on his mother who too was a prostitute.

This type of guys also reminds me of the youngster who kills the local money lender women and steals her money which he digs and keeps unable to use it instantly. He was the Character in ‘Crime and Punishment’ written by Dostoevsky [Famous Russian Author]. Though, he tries to justify his own soul by thinking of those Kings and Conquerors, who kills millions in the name of war and glory in the war. His thought was why nobody blames those killers and if their deeds are justified, then why not his killing of a ruthless money lender. His reason he felt was more justifiable than those so called warriors for them it was honour. His case merits more sympathy, for it was for survival and utter poverty which forced him to do the killing. But his mind out of sheer guilt gives him away over a period of time, by then he just could not help but show the guilt which started to eat him morally resulting in getting caught and punished.

What yard stick can be used to show who are guilty and who is not? It is highly debatable whether we can forgive the Americans who too has done more crimes time and again and the results were millions killed. What ever is the reasoning they may put forward but the fact of the matter is they too are guilty of the same deeds as these terrorists are. Both are killing innocents in the name of fighting terror and for others fighting for avenging the killing of their folks where ever they are.

Now in these times of destruction and madness, where is all this leading to? When is it going to end? God only knows.
